What Is Customer Segmentation?

Customer segmentation is the process of dividing customers based on common characteristics such as into groups of individuals that are similar in specific ways relevant to marketing, age, gender, interests and spending habits. So companies can market to each group effectively and appropriately.

Why Is Segmentation Needed?

Segmentation helps the marketers to devise appropriate marketing strategies and promotional schemes according to the tastes of the individuals. In the long run, this benefits the company because they are able to use their corporate resources more effectively and make better strategic marketing decisions.

How To Effectively Segment With Audiencefy?

Audiencefy’s segmentation will provide you with granular levels of information needed to optimize your store’s sales strategy.

More capabilities baked into the Segmentation category, further divided into:

1. Predefined Segments

Choose from over 20+ predefined audience segments that you can export to your favorite marketing channels with the following insights - Orders, Revenue, AOV & No. of customers

Viz.

  • Three months since the last purchase - Customers who have purchased once or more but have not made a repeat purchase in the last three months.

  • First Purchase - This value filters out the date, when the customer made their first purchase

  • High AOV - Customers whose average order value is higher than the median AoV (Average Order Value). Customers who have purchased goods which have a higher price point.

  • Lost - Customers who have surpassed the Lapse Point since they last bought from your store. For example, if your Lapse Point is 100 days, everyone who hasn’t purchased in 100+ days would be considered Lost. Lapse Point is the point (number of days) at which a customer is likely never to purchase again.

  • Small Ticket Spenders - Ranking your products by price, these customers buy from the bottom 10% of items.

2. Custom Segments

Step 1

Under the customers’ segmentation tab choose “CUSTOM SEGMENTS” as a value in the drop-down and click “Create Segments” on the right corner.

Step 2

Then click the “CREATE SEGMENTS” button on the top right corner and a dialogue box will appear.

Step 3

Once the “CREATE SEGMENTS” box appears, you should be able to see the filters for choosing different values. There is a list of preferred options.

Step 4

We have given one as an example here:

Under the “Property” section we chose our required value, say - “Abandoned Cart Amount” and further chose the desired operator - “Greater Than or Equal To”.

Depending upon the first two parameters that you pick then choose a given number say 900.

Step 5

If you wish, you can add another set of values apart from the first one, by simply clicking on the “OR” option given there. And “Add Filter”

That way you can fetch even more granular segmentation results.

We have created one as an example in the snippet given below.

Step 6

Once you’ve filled in all the values, you can now go ahead save your Segment along with the “Name” & “Description”

Step 7

Once the segment is saved you can see it on your dashboard under custom segments as shown in the snippet below

Done.
